As new CrossFitters come into our doors each day we see TONS of running shoes coming in with them. As fun looking and comfy as these shoes may be they are actually hurting your performance and your form with what we do here at CrossFit Next Wave - BUT WHY??
In the words of Coach Stan, “Wearing running shoes to squat is like trying to squat on a fluffy mattress.” As CrossFitters we like a stable surface to squat, jump, lift, press, and run on. In order to get this stable surface we need a flatter more solid surface, and running shoes just don’t provide that support. Having a flat surface also helps us provide more force to the barbell and to the ground without it getting absorbed into the padding of the shoes.
The point is… there are shoes made for what we do. Buy them. You will thank us later ;)
